BEFORE THE COMING OF THE ANTI-MEDICAL CANNABIS LAWS Montgomery-Ward - Chicago ILL. [Big Retailer - Sold Medicines as one product line] [Source = Sales Catalogs, courtesy National Library of Medicine] [Various medicines] OK, let’s be blunt, did major retailers like Sears’ or Montgomery-Ward go around manufacturing their own medicines? Probably not, most likely they simply would have sub-contracted an actual pharmaceutical company to produce their medicine for them and then slapped their own label on the product. However, they would still have been manufactured, as per, the retailer’s own standards AND because they would also have been marketed under their own unique “Brand or Trade” name, the museum thus counts them as unique products. In addition to having their own “Brand Named” generic products, also note that these large retailers also carried other well known (proprietary) medicines. Some of which (example, Piso’s cure for consumption) were less than reputable, but in general the medicines they carried were solid products. NOTE: All pictures doctored for quicker download time.
