Name: Moses Mines Date: Aug 4, 1940 Location: Spokane, Wa. What the Narc's were claiming Spokane, Washington AUGUST 4, 1940, a hotel room in Spokane, Washington was turned into a shambles by a ruthless slayer. An old harmless man was battered to death ----so battered that his body was almost unidentifiable. The murderer, 26-year old Joseph Mines, after committing the crime, leaped to an alley about 30 feet below without injury. It was revealed that a short time prior to the crime Mines had smoked two marijuana cigarettes. He claimed at his trial that they had crazed him and that he had no memory of the deed. In Spokane, Washington, a man named Joseph Mines, after smoking two reefers, murdered a seventy-four-year-old retired 62 railway worker. Moses, crazed with marihuana, went through the window of his hotel room, dropped eighteen feet to the roof of the garage next door in his bare feet, and then went through the window of K.'s room crying, "God told me to kill this man." Seizing K. by the throat, Moses beat him to death with his fists after which he broke a chair over his victim's head. Then screening that he was pursued by Hitler, Moses went out through the window, and dropped his two hundred pound frame to the alley thirty feet below. The man committing the crime was a MARIHUANA user. -- The Union Signal (WCTU) Jan. 30, 1937 [Esi Trujillo Victim] [Benny Griego and John Cruz arrested] Following a series of crimes in Huerfano County, Colo., attributed to marihuana cigarette smokers, chief of which was an attack on the sheriff by a marihuana user which nearly resulted in the officer's death, local officers uprooted 75 pounds of marihuana from one plot. -- The Traffic in Opium and Other Dangers Drugs (1936) Walsenburg, Col; Following a series of crimes in Huerfano county attributed to marihuana smokers, chief of which was an attack upon the Sheriff which nearly resulted in his death, seventy-five pounds of marihuana weed was uprooted from a single plot. Another seizure of twenty-five pounds was made on West Eighth Street and about ten pounds was destroyed on a ranch near Gardner. What the Narc's were claiming During March 1952, four youths, the youngest sixteen, robbed and murdered a filling station attendant at Detroit, Mich. When three of the youths were later arrested at Kirkwood, Mo., 23 marihuana cigarettes were found in their possession. They admitted having smoked marihuana just prior to committing this atrocious crime. During the trial for murder in December 1952, a defense effort was made to show that they should not be found guilty because they were so strongly under the influence of marihuana that they didn't know what they were doing. The jury refused to accept this as a defense found them all guilty of murder in the first degree. What the Narc's were claiming 1949-- David Eugene Ash was arrested at Amarillo, Tex., in the early morning of September 11, 1949, by State and county police officers for operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs (marihuana). Ash had backed a large dual wheel truck over the top of a parked passenger automobile and overturned the truck. A quantity of marihuana was found on his person at the time of his arrest. --- Ash is a member of a notorious family and has a long criminal record, including convictions for theft, receiving and concealing stolen property, and affray. He has two sisters who are married to notorious narcotic addicts and criminals. Each of the sisters was sentenced in 1949 to serve 1 to 7 years for violation of the Kansas State narcotic law. What the Narc's were claiming San Jose, Calif., 1967---During an armed robbery two teenagers, ages 15 and 17, shot and killed the owner of a beverage shop. Two San Jose youths, Raul Raymond Vasquez, 17, and Martin David Hecht, 15, will appear today before Juvenile . . . They added they were served at Garten Beverages, 4850 Union Ave., by a youth answering the description of Vasquez. . . . [no mention of Marihuana was ever made] Name: Mary Jones/ Joe Lang, Orlando Hodge Date: Oct 13, 1938 Location: Tunica, Miss /Memphis TN What the Narc's were claiming MEMPHIS, TENN. On Oct. 4, 1938, police officers of Memphis, Tenn., received information that Joe Lang, Orlando Hodge, and Mary Jones were planning to rob Mary Jones' aunt and with the proceeds therefrom to proceed to Chicago for the purpose of selling marihuana. They were arrested on the same date and 411 gm. of marihuana and 147 marihuana cigarettes were seized. They admitted that they had procured the marihuana on a plantation in Mississippi about 50 miles from Memphis, and divided it, and they had planned after committing the robbery to take the marihuana to Chicago and sell it. On October 14, 1938, all three pleaded guilty. Hodge and Lang each received a sentence of 3 years and $1,000 fine, both having previous criminal records.
